Chung Yuan Christian University operates three main water reclamation systems: recycling of swimming pool backwash water, reverse osmosis (RO) reject water, and process wastewater. Reclaimed water is piped to buildings for toilet flushing. All newly constructed buildings are also equipped with rainwater harvesting systems, and the collected rainwater is used for toilet flushing and irrigation. According to actual meter readings for academic year 2024, 1,916 tons of wastewater were reclaimed, and the Holistic Education Village and the Weiche Building alone collected 1,726 tons of rainwater. The University has also established four primary water recycling systems: reclaimed effluent, swimming pool backwash water, RO reject water, and process wastewater. All recycled water is directed to toilet flushing. New buildings feature rainwater harvesting facilities connected to either toilet flushing or irrigation systems.
