Chung Yuan Christian University’s primary energy source is purchased electricity, and the University follows a systematic process to review its electricity use:
- Inventory and Measurement: The University uses its energy management system and the smart meters installed in each building to track monthly electricity consumption. These figures are compared with the same period in the previous year to identify anomalies.
- Identifying High-Consumption Areas: An energy audit of major energy-consuming equipment, guided by the ISO 50001 energy management system, shows which buildings, laboratories, or pieces of equipment use the most energy.
- Developing an Energy-Saving Plan: Based on the audit results, the University sets annual targets and develops an action plan for energy improvements. It then puts control measures in place and regularly evaluates how effective these efforts are.
