About Our Program

The Service-Learning Seed Team focuses on two main types of activities: Seed Cultivation Activities and Spreading & Sowing Actions. The former uses hands-on engagement to help beneficiaries and participants understand the importance of an issue, inspiring them to get involved. The latter involves promoting and extending the Seed Cultivation Activities, ensuring that even those not directly served or involved can learn about the issue’s significance and begin to take action through awareness and outreach.

Since 2015, the Service-Learning Seed Team has been dedicated to promoting local service, focusing on the surrounding human and environmental aspects of the community. Through beach cleanup events and care camps for second-generation new immigrants, we aim to raise awareness among students and faculty about the importance of environmental conservation. Simultaneously, we support the children of new immigrants in the community, fostering environmental consciousness from a young age. Our ultimate goal is to achieve sustainable development for both “humans” and the “environment.”

Our Initiatives

一、 Ruifeng Elementary School Christmas Angels
Between 2014 and 2016, around the Christmas season, our Seed Team members dressed as Santa Claus to bring joy to students in the “Angel Class” (students with disabilities). This initiative empowered these children, who might typically only be recipients, to experience the joy of giving, making Christmas especially meaningful for them.

二、 Relentless “New” Second Generation
We’ve partnered with the Taiwan New Immigrant Sprouting Development Association to assist students recently returned to Taiwan from countries like Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Our support helps them learn Chinese and adapt to life in Taiwan. Since 2015, the Seed Team has collaborated with the “Taiwan New Immigrant Sprouting Development Association” on various camp activities. Through interaction with these children, we’ve gained a better understanding of new immigrants, while also helping these children build self-confidence.

三、 Hand in Hand for a Greener Earth: “New” Beginnings, Heartfelt Growth
We integrate World Earth Day and World Environment Day into an Environmental Month promotion. This involves mobilizing university students for beach cleanup services and holding outcome presentations to further emphasize the importance of environmental protection. In 2018, we further combined this with our understanding of new immigrants by joining forces with second-generation new immigrants and university students for a stream cleanup service. This initiative allows our care to sprout anew from the heart of the community.
