About the Report
- Chung Yuan Christian University (hereinafter referred to as "the University") has been publishing its University Social Responsibility Report since 2021 and Sustainability Report since 2022. The main purpose is to allow stakeholders to understand the University's performance in various aspects including academic governance and operations, talent cultivation and development, environmental sustainability and management, social inclusion and engagement, etc. These reports present the University's responsibilities and actions regarding sustainability and social responsibility issues, and conduct identification, disclosure, and analysis of Material Topics.
- The University publishes its Sustainability Report every two years, with the previous reporting period covering from January 1, 2019, to December 31, 2021.
Scope and Period of the Report
- The scope of this report pertains to Chung Yuan Christian University. As the University operates on an academic year basis, the content of this report primarily covers the period from the academic year 2021 to 2022 (August 1, 2021, to July 31, 2023). However, annual data is presented for the years 2022 to 2023 (January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2023), with some data covering one to three academic years or one to three-year periods. The content encompasses specific practices and performance in the aspects of "Environment (E)", "Social (S)", and "Governance (G)".
Report Verification
- The report follows the disclosure of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standard published by the GRI and provides an index of GRI Standards content in the appendix for quick reference and query. The report also references the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) framework, Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) standards - Education disclosure of sustainability information, and The Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS) developed by The Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE). To ensure the reliability of the report content, an independent third-party assurance provider, "Crowe (TW) CPAs," was commissioned to conduct an audit in May 2024, and the limited assurance report is included in the appendix of this report.
- The Sustainable Governance Office integrates and compiles relevant information, convenes cross-departmental data collection, collaboratively compiles reports. The Sustainable Governance Office is responsible for clerical work and the management of data aggregation. Finalized versions are produced and maintained in both print and electronic multimedia formats.
