Examples include:<br>Environmental Protection Alliance: The University is a founding and permanent member of the Green University Union of Taiwan and continues to influence how the SDGs are put into practice.<br>Advancing International Collaboration on Climate Change and Health and Smart Early Warning Applications in Indonesia<br>Faculty members from the Department of Environmental Engineering visited Surabaya, Indonesia, to advance international cooperation on water security. Working with local universities, government agencies, and community partners, they linked water security, environmental sanitation, and health in education programs for communities and schools. They also explored joint applications such as health data collection, AI modeling, and smart early-warning systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1280\" height=\"960\" src=\"https:\/\/sdgs.cycu.edu.tw\/wp-content\/uploads\/6.5.5-1-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11760\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sdgs.cycu.edu.tw\/wp-content\/uploads\/6.5.5-1-1.png 1280w, https:\/\/sdgs.cycu.edu.tw\/wp-content\/uploads\/6.5.5-1-1-768x576.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Resilient Disaster Preparedness Ark\u2014Energy Conservation and Sustainable Development Initiative<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chung Yuan Christian University\u2019s USR project, \u201cResilient Disaster Preparedness Ark\u2014Energy Conservation and Sustainable Development Initiative,\u201d works with Luofu Junior High School in Fuxing District, a remote mountain area of Taoyuan City. The project addresses climate-related risks such as heavy rainfall, flash floods, and landslides, along with the challenges of limited energy supply and water resource management. Through environmental and disaster preparedness courses, students learn about disaster response and community resilience, and the project adds disaster preparedness lectures and emergency kit workshops. These activities turn complex preparedness knowledge into practical local action. Led by Professor Chen Chi-Peng, participants explored century-old ponds and saw their ecological stone embankments and rich wetland biodiversity. The camp also visited Yoshida Farm to learn permaculture techniques such as composting and banana circles, which cycle resources back into the soil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1078\" height=\"665\" src=\"https:\/\/sdgs.cycu.edu.tw\/wp-content\/uploads\/6.5.5-4-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11763\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sdgs.cycu.edu.tw\/wp-content\/uploads\/6.5.5-4-1.png 1078w, https:\/\/sdgs.cycu.edu.tw\/wp-content\/uploads\/6.5.5-4-1-767x473.png 767w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1078px) 100vw, 1078px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Industry-Government-Academia Collaboration Revitalizes Campus Waterway: CYCU Landscape Architecture Reshapes the Daniulan Branch Creek<\/strong> In response to urban expansion and climate change, the Taoyuan Water Resources Bureau launched a project to turn Daniulan Branch Creek into a regional drainage system, working with Liansheng Engineering and CYCU\u2019s Departments of Civil Engineering and Landscape Architecture. A design competition was built into the third-year landscape studio course, and students took a fresh look at the 678-meter stretch of the creek that runs through campus. Based on field surveys and hydrological analysis, they proposed designs that included edible gardens, eco-detention lawns, constructed wetlands, and accessible waterfront spaces.
