SDG 7.2.1 Energy-efficient renovation and building

The University’s Energy Saving and Carbon Reduction Promotion Committee meets regularly to review how well its energy-saving measures are working. All renovation and new construction projects are planned, designed, and built in line with government energy policies and building codes, and they include high-efficiency equipment and insulated glass and follow green building standards.

Under its Implementation Measures for Saving Electricity, the University has put the following measures in place and continues to pursue them:

Energy Saving and Carbon Reduction Promotion Committee

• Classroom Power Management: Power and air-conditioning management systems in the academic buildings automatically match energy use to class schedules.
• Energy Monitoring: An energy management system tracks electricity and water meters so that abnormal consumption can be detected and prevented.
• Water Reclamation: The campus has several water reclamation systems: a wastewater reclamation system in the Liangshan Building, rainwater harvesting at the Holistic Education Village and the Weiche Building, and a backwash water recycling system at the swimming pool. These systems support the full reuse of water resources.
• Solar Power: Solar power systems are installed at the Administrative Building, the Zhixing Navigation Building, and the Information Management Building. In July 2025, the University carried out a rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) installation project at Lixing Dormitory.
• Elevator Energy: The academic buildings are fitted with energy-efficient elevators that use regenerative braking to capture and reuse energy.
• LED Lighting: All indoor and outdoor lighting fixtures have been replaced with LED lights.
• Green procurement totaled NT$23,721,910 in 2023 and rose to NT$42,060,015 in 2024.
