SDG 11.4.6 Pedestrian priority on campus

Chung Yuan Christian University is creating a pedestrian-first environment by separating pedestrians from vehicles to reduce points of conflict. In campus landscaping projects, the University makes walking comfortable and convenient with shaded walkways, benches, better paving, and good nighttime lighting. These efforts encourage people to walk more and drive less, which lowers carbon emissions and improves air quality.

Chung Yuan Christian University has campus vehicle management regulations to keep the campus quiet, safe, attractive, and orderly. All vehicles entering the campus must have a pass issued or recognized by the University. Unless they are on official business or have special permission from the University, vehicles may not enter pedestrian areas. Vehicles on campus must follow general traffic rules; the speed limit is 20 kilometers per hour, and speeding and unnecessary honking are strictly prohibited.
